Dr. Carol Chamblin has a Doctor of Nursing Practice. She has a private practice and practices as an Advanced Practice Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Her licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse allows her to bill for services as an in-network provider using medical codes. Carol serves the western suburbs (Elmhurst, Lombard, Villa Park, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, West Chicago, Geneva, St. Charles, Batavia….).

Advantages for scheduling appointments to see Carol include 1.) the appointments apply to your in-network deductible, which usually have been met by your prenatal care and delivery and 2.) usually there are no limits in the number of visits for seeing Carol with your insurance coverage. Insurance policies usually have a separate deductible for out-of-network providers, and therefore billing using lactation codes by most lactation consultants will apply to your unmet out-of-network deductible. Often times lactation coding will have a limit in number of visits e.g. 1 or 3 visits. Typically there is no limit in number of visits for coverage when seeking services by Carol. Carol accepts BlueCross BlueShield PPO plans. If you do not have BCBS PPO, you can see Carol at her workplace, Elmhurst Pediatrics in Elmhurst. Your baby does not have to be seeing these pediatricians to see Carol in the office. Billing is processed as your baby being the patient because it is a pediatric office. The office phone number is 630-832-3100 to schedule an appointment. In addition to her private practice, Carol is an employee at Elmhurst Pediatrics.

Carol works with many complex breastfeeding-related problems, such as low milk supply, infant weight gain problems, disorganized suck, latching problems, short frenulum (tongue-tie), preterm infants, babies born a little early (36-38 weeks gestation), jaundice, Down Syndrome, cardiac or respiratory complications, sore nipples, mastitis, plugged ducts, breast reduction surgery, maternal hypertension or diabetes, postpartum hemorrhage, postpartum depression/anxiety, or simply if you’ve had breastfeeding struggles with a previous baby. Nipple pain should not happen with breastfeeding, though it is common. Carol will assist you to breastfeed without pain.

Carol provides lactation care based on research findings and has over 25 years of experience to base her clinical care for you and your baby. Her assessment of you and your baby will end with a plan to address your personal situation. Following up with Carol until your baby is gaining weight and feeding well is important to reach your goal of breastfeeding. Anytime throughout the care, should you decide to quit or to exclusively pump your breast milk and feed it to your baby, Carol will support you. Research demonstrates any amount of breast milk, and expressed breast milk is healthy for your baby. Carol promises to support you with your feeding choice, but also has lots of experience helping moms who didn’t think they could breastfeed to indeed do so.
